Gathering samples. That was our
first mission today so that we could make informed decisions about cabinet
finishes and paint colors. We had to go to two stores to get samples of the floor tile, as well as the wall tile and the accent tile.
We also went to the
cabinet manufacturer and looked at larger samples of the finishes. It was a
good thing because the one we had eliminated as being too dark, was exactly
what will look the best with our floor.
Mike picked us up and took us to the
Neptuno with Otto and his son. Otto is the cabinet maker that will build and
install our cabinets. His son is the only one of us who had no problem climbing
8 flights of stairs! Here is what’s going on at our condo:
The entry wall was built using
concrete block and poured-in-place concrete.
Tiles were taken off the main column
and it was discovered that they had applied extra materials to the original. So
when all of that is taken off, the column will look much skinnier. (Sigh of relief.)
The second coat of empaste was
applied.
The empaste was mixed up.
Concrete block closing off doorway
to half bath was smoothed and coated.
Window in the master bath was made
larger.
Floors were trenched so that cable
could be run to outlets in the walls.
Floors were trenched so that hot
water lines could be run to the master bath.
Walls were trenched to run 220 power
for a split unit AC in bedroom #2. Then they were patched with concrete.
Hole from old AC was patched in
bedroom #3. Power was already there for new split unit.
Window in main bath was made larger.
Ron and Donna met us in La Libertad
and helped us look at samples and gave us some advice. They also gave us a lift
to some stores and back to the Alamar. We enjoy spending time with them, and
enjoyed lunch at the Rincon Manabi restaurant in La Libertad.
